Recover Data from USB 3.0 Memory Stick

Another 4Gb of data recovered today. Very familiar story … the usb plug had been snapped off from the circuit board of the thumb drive.

This was a little more tricky to work on however. Firstly it was a USB 3.0 device so had 9 connections rather than 4. In this case we solder to the usual 4 connections that make the drive backwards compatible with USB 1.0.

However, two of these connections had been ripped from the board …

… making it extremely hard to solder a replacement USB plug to recover the data.

This didn’t stop us trying, however …

… and we were pleased to still recover all (over 4Gb) of data for the client.
